Tobias Kaspar | Duochrome | 2025/26 Winter Blanket Collection

CHF 380.00
Color:

In 2024, Tobias Kaspar designed a first exclusive collection of three woolen blankets titled “Wolf im Schafspelz(Wolf in sheep’s clothing). Inspired by the paintings of Swiss concrete artist Richard Paul Lohse they referenced conceptual art while at the same time being a very functional product. Not an artwork, not another artist edition but just a beautiful woolen blanket that keeps you softly warm.

This year’s “Duochrome” collection is a continuation of this project. Tobias Kaspar started by experimenting with colour-field drawings and developed a palette of six colours. Thus, each blanket combines two shades, creating 15 unique duochrome variations.

Every blanket features an oversized label (21 x29 cm) displaying the entire colour palette Tobias Kaspar created for the “Duochrome” collection – a striking contrast between minimalist design and bold branding.

Having spent his summers in the idyllic Latvian countryside for over 20 years, Tobias Kaspar last year started to collaborate with a small wool factory near his summer house. Founded in 1914, it has roots in workshops from 1876 and survived the Soviet occupation, continuing to craft traditional Latvian and Baltic blankets until today.

Once the raw sheep wool from regional sheep farms is delivered, everything is handmade in-house: washing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving the wool into warm and gently heavy blankets.
After weaving, each blanket is treated in a drum lined with small nails, opening the wool fibres and giving it an even softer touch.

The results are winter blankets that not only look good but also keep you warm – thick, soft, and luxurious.

About the designer:
Tobias Kaspar is a Swiss contemporary artist whose work blurs the lines between art, fashion, and identity. Based in Zurich and Latvia, Kaspar's innovative approach is manifested in various mediums, including photography, video, and sculpture. His artworks often explore and critique social and cultural themes, inviting viewers to question and engage with the constructs of identity and consumer culture.

Tobias Kaspar is also the co-founder of Provence, an art and fashion magazine that reflects his eclectic vision and boundary-pushing ethos since 2010.
